Why It's Hip To Be Sober
We all know how easy it can be to get into the habit of drinking every day. Let's start with the fact that when you pour yourself a well-deserved glass of wine at the end of a hard day's work, you're probably actually drinking three standard drinks in one go.
Most of us play down the amount we drink, but if you look at the statistics, alcohol can play havoc with your health, your relationships and your general wellbeing.
In Australia we have a big drinking culture, so what seems 'normal' to us may not actually be normal when we really look into it.
How Bernard Conquered His demons
My client Bernard was very clear straight off the bat that he wanted to quit drinking for good. When he first sat down with me, he recalled with sadness how his family had stopped trusting him.
He had promised to quit drinking so many times (only to reneg on his promise) that in the end, nobody believed him. He knew that this was his one final shot at getting his life together and he wasn't about to waste it.
For Bernard, it was a no-brainer; it was the drink or his family. He made the choice and from that moment on he stuck to his guns. You can read Bernard's story on this page.
Should You Cut Down Or Quit?
Some of my clients want to try to cut down their alcohol intake; they like the idea of being able to enjoy a couple of glasses of wine with dinner. Unfortunately, not everybody can do this. For some people it is very much an 'all-or-nothing' thing. Only you can know what's right for you. Either way, you can get the help and support you need.
More and more people are embracing sobriety, as they find that alcohol hinders not only their health but their overall interaction with life. This interesting article explains why the sobriety trend is catching on and how cutting down on alcohol consumption can enhance your life. Read the full article here.
