According to the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, the following statistics were observed in 2017-2018:- 67% of adults in Australia were either overweight or obese (around 12.5 million adults);

- 31% of adults were obese;
- Men rated higher than women in terms of being overweight or obese (75% for men, 60% for women);
- Men rated higher than women in terms of obesity (33% for men, 30% for women).
