The impact of COVID-19 has had a devastating effect on the world, leaving a significant number of people jobless, isolated and uncertain about the future.
Uncertainty is incredibly uncomfortable for most of us because it takes away our sense of control. It’s during these times that we need to build our mental and emotional resilience to anxiety and despair.
When our world is turned upside down, it’s so easy to get stuck in ‘fixing’ mode. Our minds want to find a solution to the problem…yesterday.
But sometimes there’s just not an immediate solution in sight, and we have to have patience and faith that things will turn out okay.
Right Here, Right Now….You’re Okay.
When you get caught up in panic and worry about the future, you’re in a trance of fear. The only way to break that trance is to come back to the present moment.
Ask yourself: ‘is everything okay right now?’ For 99% of people, usually the answer to that question is ‘yes’. In other words, we’re in no immediate danger, we have a roof over our heads and there will be food on the table tonight.
Practising positive affirmations is a great way to stop playing the ‘horror movie’ in your head. Most of what we catastrophise about doesn’t end up happening, but it’s hard to acknowledge this when we’re in the middle of a meltdown.

With policies, rules and procedures changing literally on a daily basis, it’s impossible to find peace in the outside world. That’s when you can retreat to your inner world and reset the energy.
